SUHFARS Meeting
Minutes 24-July-2001
| The Summer 2001
meeting was held at Barnabys in Arlington Heights.
The meeting was called to order at 18:35 by Skip K9SA. Kirby reported on the treasury, which is sufficient to keep our bills current and that current cash flow is 'positive'. Current membership is at about 35 members, with current 'dues' received from about 14, for the coming year. Skip reported that the repeater is healthy. The intermediate Power Amplifier was replaced which seems to have cured the intermittent problems. The High Power PA is still in need of some repair and will be taken care of as time permits. There was no 'Old Business'. New Business: The first item of business was voting in new members. Up for consideration this time were Robert - KB9WUU and Tom - KE9LN. John - K9IJ moved that both be accepted as full members. The motion was seconded by Kirby - KA9UMJ. Carried... There was a discussion regarding
removal of lapsed members from the roster. It was moved by Kirby -
KA9UMJ that N9CFB and N9ZQQ be officially removed as they had not paid
dues for well over a year. The motion was seconded by John - K9IJ. Discussion continued regarding
club dues. Due to ongoing problems collecting dues in a timely manner,
it was suggested that dues be raised by $5.00 to $30/year. As an
'incentive' for early/on time payment, dues paid on or before July 1st
of each year will be discounted $5.00 (with a grace period extending
from July 1st to the summer meeting date so that dues paid at the
meeting are considered paid 'on time'). Kirby - KA9UMJ moved that dues
be increased $5.00. The motion was seconded by John - K9IJ. Note that the dues increase will take place for next years dues (2002). Dues this year remain at $25.00 In addition to the discussion regarding dues, the subject of 'pro-rating' dues was raised. Up to this time, it has been unclear as to how dues were pro-rated for new members paying for the first time. The rules are as follows: New member joins between July 1 and Jan 1 of the club fiscal year. New member pays the full amount of 1 years dues ($30.00). New member joins between Jan 1 and July 1 of the club fiscal year. New member pays the full amount of 1 years dues ($30.00) but dues are applied to membership thru the following fiscal year. This years Field Day was held as a joint effort with the Palatine ESDA group. FD was a big success. The weather was perfect and we significantly improved our score from last year. It was moved by John - K9IJ that the club pay for half of the rental cost of the FD Tent (Palatine ESDA paid for the other half). Seconded by Mark - WD9JEN . Carried... Skip brought up an item regarding Articles of Incorporation. The renewal which must be filed every year requires the names of 5 directors. These names are usually drawn from the current club officers and 2 'charter members' of the club, however there are no longer enough charter members left to serve this purpose. The next time that the renewal is due, we will need to determine who will serve as the 'directors' to fulfill the renewal requirements. This item was 'tabled' as future new business. At the last meeting, it was moved that scheduled meetings be increased to 3 per year. This was passed, but it was unclear as to when the 3rd meeting should occur. This was discussed further at this meeting and as a result the general consensus was that there really should be 4 meetings each year. With the Winter meeting being the 'election' meeting. The summer meeting is the 'dues' meeting and the spring and fall meetings will be for general club business. The meeting schedule will 'target' the second Tuesday of each 'quarter' so that we can try to plan further in advance. Check the 'calendar' on the WEB for projected dates for the remainder of the year. The meeting closed at 19:45. A good time was had by all. THOSE PRESENT K9SA - Skip |
